Artist Statement

Photography, for me, has never been about freezing time. As Susan Sontag noted, the medium often tends toward stillness—toward death. My work resists that. Through layered compositions, I seek images that shimmer, vibrate, and hold the resonance of memory, not a record, but a living presence.

Whether with dancers, monuments, or museums, I try to collapse the instant into duration so that a photograph becomes less a document than a vibration of time. In Volumes and Lines, water became both subject and metaphor—fluid, searching, alive. Across Morocco, New York, and my travels, I search for ways to make the photographic image breathe: a dialogue between vision, sound, and sensation.

Biography

Marco Guerra is a Chilean-born photographer whose work explores the fluidity of time, memory, and perception. Rooted in a Latin sensibility and shaped by life between Morocco, New York, and Europe, his practice moves between intuition and structure, emotion and stillness. Early works captured the immediacy of gesture and light, while later series,Fantasia, Museums Composites, and Volumes and Lines, expand photography into layered meditations on rhythm and presence. Through his images, Guerra seeks not to document but to transform the seen into vibration: a living echo of time.
